JoAnn’s story

I knew how to show up for other people. I needed help showing up for this.

At 64, I was a deputy sheriff. My work asked a lot of me physically, and I could feel my strength slipping. I was also carrying weight I wanted to lose.

So I hired a personal trainer.

Having someone show me what to do made a difference. I had a plan to follow and someone helping me put it into practice. I still had to do the work, but I wasn't trying to figure out every part of it myself.

Over 5 months, I lost 35 pounds. The discovery that stayed with me was that my body could still build strength at 64.

This is my own experience. Your progress will depend on your starting point, health, training and other individual factors.

After the badge

When I retired, I kept thinking about other women my age.

Women our age can have trouble finding guidance that fits our bodies, our starting points and our lives. I wanted to bring together the things that had helped me: strength training, nutrition and personal support.

That is what I wanted my coaching to offer: help making the pieces work together for you.

I went on to earn credentials in personal training, nutrition coaching, and physique and bodybuilding coaching. The bodybuilding study was about understanding how to build muscle. My interest was in using that knowledge to help women become stronger for their lives.

What I bring to coaching

You deserve a coach who shows you the way—and helps you follow through.

You can collect recipes and workouts and still be unsure how to put them together. Coaching gives you someone to help choose a starting point, explain what you’re doing and work through what makes it difficult to keep going. I know what that support meant to me. That’s the kind of coach I want to be for you.

I'm 66 now, and still investing in my longevity.

If you're wondering where to start, I'd like to help. Book a one-on-one consultation so we can talk about your goals and how coaching could fit your life.
